West Norwalk Nursery School

We have been serving families in Norwalk and the surrounding communities, for nearly 60 years. We are located in the lower level of The United Congregational Church, 275 Richards Avenue, Norwalk, CT 06850. Our school is nonsectarian and open to all children regardless of race, religion, creed, or national origin.

Our program is designed to serve children aged three to five years old.

West Norwalk Nursery School offers a healthy and safe environment for all children while providing a comprehensive program characterized by the natural curriculum flow from the development of pro-social skills to nurturing the skills necessary for a successful Kindergarten experience.

Our Philosophy and Goals

At West Norwalk Nursery School, we believe that children learn from everything around them, yet each child learns differently. Our curriculum is designed to encourage the development of skills and concepts in a variety of ways that will support each child’s modality of learning. A very important facet of our program is our emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking The development of these skills will have tremendous significance on your child’s success in our changing world We also provide the opportunity for children to make choices and learn how these choices affect themselves and others We always try to take advantage of the teachable moments that crop up throughout each day Through experiment and discovery, we hope that learning will become an interesting process that continues for a lifetime.

Our Staff

Our staff has been chosen based on their experience, their commitment to the early education of young children, and their passion for teaching.

All Head Teachers are state certified and all staff must participate in continuing education and staff development throughout the year. All staff hold current First Aid, CPR, and Administration of Medications certification. Also everyone is a member of The National Association for the Education Of Young Children.

We offer 2 – 5 day programs, and begin enrolling for the next school year each chalk funJanuary.
